SUSTAINABILITY & MATERIALS

I researched a new material made from 50% bamboo fiber waste, 25% corn starch and 25% melamine for a line of plant propagation plates. The material had a ceramic-like quality with a matte finish that gave them a higher perceived value than standard resin products.

I designed and sourced these plastic-free gardening kits with molded pulp critters made from 50% recycled paper. The critters are biodegradable and safe to compost in your backyard.

To reduce the product’s carbon foot print and create a product with a longer lifespan, I swapped the steel net pot used in the Garden Jars for a 100% recycled HDPE net pot. The recycled content used for the net pot was recycled and sorted from the USA and the net pot was tooled and manufactured in Minnesota, drastically reducing the carbon footprint of this component.
